When we talk about Yoga, we all know it is for mind as well as body. Here we try to improve our breathing by giving some asana to work on the expansion of the chest, to enhance better breathing. We all know, when we inhale and take in oxygen, that oxygen is not only for the lungs, but it is for our entire body. We all know every cell of our body requires oxygen. The more oxygen we take in, the healthier our cells become. Deep inhalation and slow exhalation also helps calm down our mind, leaving behind the stress which was never required.
Knee Joint & Yoga
Knee is a very important weight bearing joint in the human body.
There are many types of knee disorders. but the most common form is osteoarthritis of the knee. It is a chronic degenerative disorder of articular cartilage covering the articulating surfaces of bone taking part in joint formation.
Age, gender, knee injury, repetitive use of joints and a few more play a very important role in the development of joint osteoarthritis particularly weight bearing.
Symptomatic osteoarthritis knee occurs in 10 – 15 % of men and 30% of women aged 60 years or older. before the age 45, OA is more common in men than women. The number of people affected with symptomatic Osteoarthritis is likely to increase due to the aging of the population and the obesity epidemic.
Considering therapeutic benefits of asana , medical yoga therapy for osteoarthritis knee is been given for palliation & restoration . and with regular practise of this therapy i.e. modified asanas with the help of props , many people benefited with reduction in pain , reduction in stiffness , increased range of movements. Therefore this therapy must reach to everyone suffering from the problems of knee joint.
